We are officially well on our way into spring and the earth is in that time of transition from cold days and nights into a warmer weather pattern. At least in theory, as right now, I’m still wearing wool socks and boots as the weather has not started to cooperate just yet. But, as we start to see the warmer months ahead, it is time to switch up our beauty needs to adapt to the changing weather and that means out with the heavy duty products of winter and into lighter springtime beauty. As I have mentioned before, I love to take time every spring to go through all my spring and summer products to do a little spring cleaning; getting rid of the old and expired and re-evaluating the colors to see if they still work. Today, I am going to discuss my favorite springtime beauty essentials.
Switch Up Your Beauty Routine for the Warmer Months Ahead
Here are a few of my favorite springtime beauty essentials that are perfect for the season:
My Top Springtime Beauty Essentials
Lightweight moisturizer
As the weather starts to warm up, you’ll want to swap out your heavy winter moisturizer for something lighter. Look for a moisturizer that is hydrating but not greasy. You want to look for water-based products and ingredients such as glycerin or hyaluronic acid. However, hyaluronic acid can cause inflammation in some people.
Sunscreen
It’s important to wear sunscreen all year round, but it’s especially important in the spring and summer months when the sun’s rays are stronger. Look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Personally, I up my coverage to SPF 50 and reapply multiple times throughout the day. I have been testing a bunch of sunscreens, so hopefully, I will have a blog post for you later this year.
Bright lipstick
Spring is the perfect time to add a pop of color to your makeup routine. A bright lipstick is an easy way to do it. Try a shade like coral or pink, which are both on-trend for the season. One of my favorite lipsticks for spring is the Dior Addict Refillable Shine Lipstick in “Lucky.”
Lightweight foundation
Just like with moisturizer, you’ll want to switch to a lighter foundation in the spring. Look for a product that provides coverage without feeling heavy on the skin. You could even just use concealer where you need it with a bit of tinted moisturizer to even everything out.
Blush
Adding a pop of color to your cheeks can help brighten up your complexion and give you a healthy, natural-looking glow. When choosing a blush for spring, opt for shades that are fresh and vibrant, like peach, coral, or pink. One of my favorite blushes for spring is the Nars Blush in shade “Orgasm.” This blush has a peachy-pink tone that gives a natural-looking flush to the cheeks. It also has a gold-toned shimmer that adds a subtle glow to the skin, which is perfect for the sunny days of spring.
With the above mentioned springtime beauty essentials, you’ll be ready to transition your beauty routine from winter to spring. Now go enjoy all the beauty that this season has to offer.
